Mikel S. Rosenthal

Lead Designer

Mikel S. Rosenthal (Ma-kehl) was born in Mexico, Missouri.  He remains Mexico’s largest export (soybeans and bricks are a close second).  The small town atmosphere (a.k.a. unrelenting monotony) aggressively cultivated his attention to detail, and his desire to have his hands in every cookie jar.

For instance, Mikel is a severe music addict, a semi-accomplished telepath, and an amateur engineer; having constructed a homemade Tivo out of spare computer parts in his apartment.

Mikel graduated summa cum laude from SMSU in Springfield, MO with a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Art & Design, while minoring in Mass Media & Communications.  He is a member of A.I.G.A. Association and can be found often chatting with designers for hours about trends in design and music. Mikel moved to Chicago in 2002 in his horse-drawn Conestoga, first accepting a design position with Firebelly Design, and he’s been working in the field to date.

When asked what his favorite 80’s phenomenon is, Mikel quickly barked “Slap bracelets!” because there is nothing quite as thrilling as a bendable steel blade covered in magenta spandex. When asked what animal he would be, he replied “Howler monkey, because hello, loud obnoxious monkey…need I say more?”

If he had $10,000 he would spend every cent of it on IRA’s, Investment Bonds, Music, and Electronic Devices of all factions. If given the chance Mikel would completely digitalize his entire living space, because he believes there can never be too many computers in one room.
