Sean Grady
Designer
Born and raised in Naperville, Illinois, America’s capital for uptight soccer moms and even uptighter soccer children, Sean attended Illinois State University, where he earned a B.A. in Graphic Design and bribed the judges won “Best In Design” for a 2010 student competition, where he created wine bottle designs. This project required highly participatory research into wine and liquor packaging, which is why Sean today cannot actually remember the location of Illinois State University.
Sean’s position with Biersma Creative is what he considers his first “real” job, which is setting him up for a rude awakening if he ever moves on to anywhere else. Branding is the aspect of his work he enjoys the most, and claims he’s “somewhat anal” when it comes to typography.
He’s a fan of what he considers the four important Chicago sports teams – the Bulls, Bears, Hawks and Cubs. Three out of four ain’t bad, a Sox fan might tell him. He’s a fan of classic rock, as well — Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and The Who, for example, though latter-day acts like the Black Keys, Radiohead and Beck are cool by him, too.
If Sean had $10,000, he’d get an insanely-equipped Mac before jumping in line for Bears season tickets, then travel to Thailand for a month. His favorite aspect of the 1980s was Genesis, because he enjoys the idea of Peter Gabriel dressed as a flower. We don’t have the heart to tell him that was the 1970s. It’s all ancient history to him.
